Friday Favorites

Ya'll. This kid. Josh sent me this picture yesterday and I swear I almost cried on the spot. How I'd get so blessed to be his mama?

I've been listening to a new song from Dave Barnes all week after Josh decided to play it on an errand run last Saturday. Not smart. I was ugly crying in the car and looked like someone punched me in the face the rest of the afternoon. Ha ha! But the song is great. What simple prayer we all have for our children.

"May your life be long,
Your friendships deep,
May your heart be kind and true.
I pray you'll know the peace of God,
and how dearly I love you."

-Song for My Children by Dave Barnes

It's a beautiful song-just make sure you listen to it at home...with tissues.

This cup. It was a Christmas gift from one of my kids and I just have to say how much I love it. I know there are super expensive versions, but this one is awesome. Ice will still literally be in the cup the next day!! With as much water as I'm drinking right now (and has to have lots of ice...cold, cold, cold) this cup is the bomb. I don't know if I should really be putting it in the dishwasher or not- but it seems to handle that just fine!
It can be bought online and at Target!

Well, the crib has been put together at least. I love how the bedding turned out. My talented mama made the crib skirt, the sheet is Pottery Barn Kids and bumper is from Amazon.

Artwork needs to be hung and final touches added. We are close but yet so far away from being done.

Yellow chair is going and will be replaced by a rocker. Still on the hunt for bow ties. Well actually, if we are being honest, I haven't been to one store to look. I don't know if it's just life with a toddler or preggo life with a toddler but once I get him in the car in the afternoon to go home, that's all we do. Go home. The idea of going to a store, lugging my 28 pound baby out of car, into stroller, walking around with my already swollen feet from working all day- no thanks. That's probably why I have nothing done and why I should really invest in Amazon prime! Yes..people tell me shopping gets even better with two! #momprobs

Sorry to my northern friends and family. You won't appreciate this favorite very much, so skip it if you want.
72 degrees in February? YES, PLEASE! It's so refreshing to be outside! I know Henry is loving it. Especially when he screams and cries about going inside when I need to start dinner. *sigh*
Is it here to stay? Probably not. We'll get a freaky March cold front. Probably an Easter snow storm. You know right when I go into labor or something. So we are enjoying it while it's here!

Loving these random sweet moments from my week. Might as well end with some pictures.

Totally going to need to get those safety door handle things. I thought we had some time before this stinker could reach them.

Henry's taken an interest in coloring now. Thank heavens we've moved on from the eating crayon stage. Now we make little marks on the paper. I love watching his little mind make connections. At night we always read a Llama Llama book and in the one about Llama at school it ends with a picture he drew on the fridge. I put one of Henry's pictures on the fridge and now every time we read that page, he giggles and smiles at me like he knows his artwork is on the fridge too!

Totally running out of lap space. Can't wait to be holding both my sweet boys in just a few short weeks!

I hope you all have a relaxing weekend!

Friday Favorites

This kid snoozing on us is pretty rare but when you fight a nap in the crib, you do what you gotta do!

Tuesday we took Henry to Discovery Place Kids with his cousin Judah, Aunt Bethany and Uncle Torrey. Lucky kid got a pass to the museums as his birthday/Christmas gift so we can visit anytime we want. He's just starting to be big enough to play at the museum so it was fun to watch him.

My sister's married! She got married last Saturday. I play to do a post on just this coming up but wanted to share some pics from the day!

We made our first ever trip to Costco. My parents got a membership there. I've heard only the best reviews from people who shop there but I'm not sure I'm won over yet. Josh and I are members of BJ's (similar to Costco- think it's a southern store) and I think we might just stick to it. Diapers were a good deal at Costco so I will be having my mom and dad pick up boxes for us from time to time. Anyone got any advice of things they can't live without from Costco or BJ's? Maybe my experience was just weird. It was super busy and the store just didn't seem very organized or easy to find stuff. BJ's is laid out more spaciously and has signs with labels everywhere. I did love the amount of organic stuff available at Costco. I'm just not sure our little family of three would get use out of the immense packages of stuff yet. Ask me again in a year. Ha.

Thinking it's time to retire these pjs. Ha! The bump is getting BIG. I swear every time I go to the doctors and they measure me, I expect to hear "Oh, your measuring two weeks ahead..." or something like that. NOPE. Seriously though?!?! I feel way bigger at 27 weeks- probably the same as Henry at 37! Maybe it's a 2nd baby thing. Jeepers. My gut says my April 7th baby will actually be a March baby though. Mark my words. Mother's intuition.

I have to be real for a moment though. This baby is so very wanted and we are so excited but this pregnancy has not been as fun or comfortable as Henry's was. Again, maybe it's a 2nd baby thing or I'm too busy and tired to enjoy it. I don't know. I have a lot more hip/back pain, heartburn up the wazoo and just plain pooped at the end of the day. Only a few more weeks I keep telling myself. Those sweet little kicks and rolls help to make me smile though.

Don't even ask if we are ready for baby G yet. Not a thing is prepared. Better get on it, huh? Nursery? Nope. Now that the holidays have passed, nesting will kick into gear big time. Two months to go! (Josh is not so excited about the nesting phase. Ha.)

I enjoyed my last weekend of my Christmas decor being up. Starting this week it's coming down little by little. Always makes me a little sad to take it all down but with baby coming I'm itching to get a fresh and clean house ready for his arrival! Christmas will be here again before we know it!

Friday Favorites

A favorite this week was was and easy crockpot soup! I need to be better about meal prep in this season of life. It helps that my mom starts off the day watching Henry at our house, so she can plug in the crockpot and I know it won't be BURNED crisp by the time I get home at 4 pm! Ha! If you have any tried and true yummy and easy crockpot recipes, please share in the comment section!

Friday Favorites- Last Friday of July!

Is it seriously the last Friday of July? Time SLOW down! My summer is flying away!

My brother and sister in law are in town visiting. They live in Orlando so the times we get to see them are precious indeed. Henry was very excited (if you couldn't tell.) One thing we've done to help Henry remember and recognize family faces is a family picture board. We put pictures on the board of family that does not live nearby and every day we look at it and point out and name each person. When he saw David and Brooke when they arrived he smiled big right away, like he knew them well. I think doing that little exercise every day really helps, plus he LOVES looking at pictures.

Time hop killed it this week. Can't believe one year ago I was here! I loved being pregnant (until the last few weeks of course...ha.)

This is our niece, Addison. We had just gotten home from our honeymoon and couldn't wait to drive up to Michigan to visit our FIRST ever niece! She was such a good baby. I can't believe it's been 8 years since she arrived and brought so much joy to our family! I also reminisce that I took these very blurry photos with my first smart phone- a Blackberry. I thought I was so cool. It was pink too. Ahhh, the memories.

 Here's Miss Addy today!

Some more Timehop love...This is our other niece Ella. For two summers in a row, I visited MN in the summer to spend time with her and her mommy and daddy. Such fun visits those were. I can't wait to hopefully take Henry there next summer to experience a beautiful MN summer and spend time with his family!

Here's Ella now (and is that seriously my baby?? He's changed so much!)

My stroller is seriously a favorite of mine this week. It's so easy to fold with one hand, take anywhere and Henry is super comfy. It has three recline positions and the lowest is almost flat, perfect for pool naps! We've been going on walks every morning (of course today's walk was in 90% humidity, ugh). If you are on the market for a stroller, the Chicco Bravo is a winner! Excuse Henry's glare..he though the humidity was ridiculous too.

My dad just returned from a trip to Germany and he brought me back some goodies. Mini Haribo gummi bears are a favorite and also the yummy salad dressing packets too. He also brought back the breadcrumbs they use for many recipes, including schnitzel. Yum. I will be making that soon. I found a board on Pinterest called Just Like Oma. It has a bunch of traditional German recipes which I was so stoked to find. I don't know how to cook many German dishes (partly cause the recipes are in German) and to find these in English just made my day! Now I can try and replicate those yummy dishes that my Oma and Opa used to make us!

German Pork Schnitzel including a Jägerschnitzel Sauce. A quick and easy meal ❤️ Check out http://www.quick-german-recipes.com/german-schnitzel-recipe.html

Does July really need to be over?
I'm enjoying my summer days with this kiddo so very much. I'm always excited to start a new school year but this one is bittersweet. Next week I go back for a day to do some work at school and Henry will stay with Grammy. It'll be a reminder of what life will look like in a mere month. I've already started praying over my classroom and the new kiddos that will fill it. I know that God places each kiddo in my room for a reason and it's always so exciting to meet them!
How perfect is this verse in regards to a teacher and her students?

This scripture reminds me of my responsibility as a teacher! Made this for my teacher friends:)

Ending with some cute Henry pics. Just because.

Have a fabulous weekend everyone!
