The sun was shining and perfect weather. It's a beautiful drive through the mountains, the views were so clear. It was a nice time without distractions to actually have meaningful conversations with each other. That time is so important, especially in this busy season.
We got to Knoxville and decided to eat an early dinner. Of all the places we could have gone to, we chose Tupelo Honey. Yes...I've been there in Asheville and Charlotte but it is just that good. They have an amazing brussel sprouts salad. I enjoyed that with my fried chicken. The hubby had some yummy flank steak. We didn't even have room for dessert we were so full. It was fun to people watch out of the restaurant window. Knoxville is a college town, as evident by the cool and hip people we saw passing by. I told Josh that I had never seen more Christmas sweaters in my life. I guess it's a thing now? There was a Christmas market set up in the square. We didn't have time to stop but it looked really neat.
After dinner we headed over to our hotel to change and freshen up before the concert. We took a selfie in the mirror and man oh man. I cut my poor hubby's head off. Short people problems. Ha! He sure is good looking though.
The concert was at the Tennessee Theatre, which was only a few blocks from our hotel so we decided to walk. The concert was so nice. There is something about singing Christmas carols that just seems so reverent and full of worship. I'm in awe that God sent his precious son to Earth for us! What rejoicing! Chris is wonderful at leading worship. If you've never been to one of his concerts, I highly recommend it!
The concert ended around 10:30 and Josh and I decided to see if any place was open for dessert. It was so unlike us...we normally act like old people and are in bed at that time! Ha! We found a cute little bistro that had a live Jazz trio playing. It felt so sophisticated! We ate some delicious cheesecake and enjoyed each other's company some more.
On the walk back to our hotel we passed a beautiful church. How gorgeous is this nativity scene? The all white was so pretty that we stopped and enjoyed looking at it for a bit. Making the time to remember the reason for the season always weighs on my heart this time of year. We can get so caught up in all the busyness and forget to reflect. I'm trying to make a priority this month.
I was thankful to have this quick trip to reconnect and spend time with my sweet husband. Poor guy..we get to make another (longer) road trip in two weeks.
