Whirlwind weekend

Whew! What a fun weekend I had! I was blessed to be able to fly up to Detroit this past weekend and spend time with my family and friends. I hate that Michigan is so far away from North Carolina because I would love to see everyone more often.
I was able to see my cousin Alyssa and her sweet new baby girl, Cora Rose! What a darling baby she is. It's amazing to see someone you've known their whole life and love like a sister become a mom. My Grammy came to visit her with me and it was so special to see all those generations together. Baby Cora is blessed to have both great grandmothers still in her life.

I spend time Saturday with my Aunt Holly and cousin Thais. We went to breakfast at Morning Glory Coffee and Pastry Shop. My good friend Jenn is the genius creator of all things yummy there. We enjoyed a delicious lunch and a whole slew of pastries! Oh my goodness... my sweet tooth was satisfied for sure on Valentine's Day!

Sunday my cousins, grandmother and I drove out to Ann Arbor to meet our other newest addition to the family- Molly! It was so special to see the two babies "meet" each other for the first time! Matt and Meg were such gracious hosts. They made us the most delicious lunch!  Baby Molly is so beautiful with big blue eyes and the best smile. I was neat to see the difference between them that just 3 months can make. I can only imagine what fun Molly and Cora will have together some day. Some of my most favorite memories involve my sweet cousins and I hope they are blessed by each other as much as we are!

The weekend was so fun that I did not want it to end. Monday morning Jenn picked me up and treated me to a yummy breakfast at Toast. I got to see baby Cora one last time before heading to the airport. Getting home was another story altogether...let's just say that Charlotte's ICE storm set my travel plans back by a day or so. But I'm home now and so glad that I had the time to spend with loved ones.

Winter Break- Charleston Style

We had fun at our home on Christmas Day- but the day after we headed out to Isle of Palms/Charleston area to finish out our winter break with family. We had so much fun taking a carriage tour of downtown Charleston, eating at great restaurants, strolling the beach, shopping and just spending time together!
So I remember the great restaurants we visited, here they are:
                   1. Morgan Creek Grill on Isle of Palms
                   2. Toast in downtown Charleston
                   3. RB's Seafood in Mt. Pleasant

Our families shared a house which was absolutely gorgeous and the way to go. It had plenty of space and a beautiful view of the harbor. We didn't have the best weather but that didn't stop us from going to the beach! I only wish I had taken more pictures.

Life's a beach!

I've been lacking in blog posts lately because we've been at the beach! St. Augustine Beach to be exact. The beach has been beautiful and not crowded at all. It is pretty funny coming from Sarasota or the many Carolina beaches I've visited before to see cars driving on the beach. Quite convenient if you had kids and tons of stuff to lug I can imagine. The waves were perfect for boogie-boarding and surfing.

We ate yummy seafood. You can't go to the beach and not have fresh seafood! Unless you're my husband who hates fish! Ha!

We ventured into historic Old Town of St. Augustine. The buildings and architecture are so beautiful. It's amazing how old the town really is. Josh and I split off from my parents and wandered around on our own. We found a yummy gourmet Popsicle place- heaven! They had every flavor you could imagine! Josh tried a Strawberry-Basil pop and I had a Papaya-Pineapple pop. But let me tell you, I would have loved to try tons more! It's a place we would like to come back to someday!

Sad to see this vacation end- but looking forward to my next trip! Minnesota or bust!
