Last week of maternity leave

How can I possibly leave this baby next week?? (insert cry face emoji) I knew it'd be hard. I have random moments of crying and Henry looks at me like I'm cuckoo.
13 weeks have gone by SOOOOO fast. Amazing how much he's grown and become less of a newborn and developed quite the personality! I truly feel blessed to have had 13 weeks to spend with Henry. Every day I wake up and realize he's mine is a day full of thankfulness!

I'm blessed that my mom is going to watch Henry once Josh has work again. He's going to love spending his days with Grammy and Gramps. Mom has a room all set up for him and has toys and fun things galore. He probably won't want to come home at night! Ha!

I guess a feeling working moms have is that they are missing so many milestones and "first" moments. While I understand he will roll over when he's at home in the evenings too, just makes me a little sad to miss it live. Summer break will be here before we know it and I'll have all my days to spend with Henry again. That's where being a teacher has it's perks!

Henry's reflux has been really bad. There has been days recently that he had been vomiting up all his feedings and in a lot of pain. We actually spent last Saturday night at the Pediatric ER with him because he had vomited blood. He's started some new medicine so hopefully he feels some relief soon. If you'd pray for him we'd be so grateful. It would make me feel much more comfortable coming back to work knowing my child isn't in pain and able to keep food down.

Henry is still a great eater and (night) sleeper. Naps are another story. Hopefully those start getting a little longer and more frequent. He's a serial cat napper. I can't complain though- I'm thankful to get 6-7 hours of sleep a night. I hope to start going to bed right after him next week which will get me closer to 8 or 9 hours. Heavenly. Haven't quite figured out how I'll fit pumping into my workday. Trying to minimize time away from teaching my sweet kiddos but know that feeding my baby is important too. If you have any tips on that, please share!

That rounds up this post. Sorry if it was a boring one! I ask for prayers next week as I start day one as a working mom! Sad to leave Henry but also excited to see my sweet students again. Work-Home balance will start to take shape I'm sure. Enjoy the rest of your week!

  1. Oh, that reflux is the worst! I feel your pain...April had it very bad when she was a newborn...to the point where she would only eat 2-3 ounces a feeding (at 3 months old!) Our doctor put her on "baby zantax" (literally what he called it) and holy moley, you could tell it made a HUGE difference after the first day. We also kept her sleeping in her swing at bedtimes because she had to sleep elevated until she grew out of it (the reflux and the swing ;))

    Praying for you!
