Our sweet boy surprised us and made his debut a little early!

7 pounds 3 oz. and 20 inches long
We are over the moon in thankfulness for this sweet and precious gift we've been given in our son. He's already changed our life so much that neither Josh or I can remember what it was like
before him!
He had a little bit of a rough start into life. My labor went relatively smooth until the last 3 hours (of a total 17 hours) when I developed a high fever which caused an infection in my amniotic fluid. This in turn gave Henry the infection. He spent the first week of life in the NICU being treated with IV antibiotics. While it was so very hard leaving him at the hospital when I got discharged, we knew he was in great hands with the NICU nurses and doctors. His daddy and I would visit multiple times a day to nurse him and just love on him. For part of the time he had a scalp IV (in some of the pictures you can see it on his head) because with babies it can be hard to find a good vein. One of his nurses Sasha finally got the IV into his hand and then he had that the rest of the week. We are so thankful that his time in the NICU was so short and that he is very healthy. Reality hits when you see the other babies in the NICU and know that they are a long way from going home. We still pray for those babies and their families every day.
Since we've brought him home we've experienced many things. Blow outs, squirt outs, small squeaks, smiles and lots of first for this new mom and dad. Our whole family has been super sweet and excited to meet our sweet boy. We can't wait for Josh's family to come and meet Henry as well.
Henry has been a great baby so far. We are getting 6-7 hours of sleep a night (which I guess is pretty good for a newborn?) and he eats like a champ. We stare at him all day and can't believe he's ours. Josh is constantly saying, "He is so perfect....we really get to keep him?". Seven years of trying for this precious boy was TOTALLY worth it.
I think I've fallen more and more in love with my husband since our baby was born. He's such an awesome dad. He helps me out with everything and is so attentive. Henry alreay has his daddy wrapped around his finger and it's so fun to watch.
The many faces of Henry John.
Thanks so much for all the prayers and well wishes. I can't wait to share more about our parenthood journey on this blog. God has blessed us so richly and I can't wait to see what blessing and joyful moments 2017 will hold for our family!
Such a sweet post! I'm so glad things are going well and you're enjoying every moment. ♡
