I admit that this didn't get posted last night because I fell asleep early. Oh and my laptop battery died. It just wasn't worth the fight last night.
1. Weird weather
I know that you cannot tell in the picture below...but we had an ice storm at the beginning of this week. About 1/2 to 1" of nice ice. School was shut down for two days. Ugh. If I have a day off, I'd at least like to play in some white fluffy stuff! This type of precipitation was just killer! We stayed off the roads.
It did give me time to make some yummy crockpot soups. I tried this new one which was delicious. Corn chowder! Recipe in picture below!
2. Kindergarten shenanigans.
Ya'll, I LOVE Kindergarten writing. Look how cute this journal entry is! I asked them for morning work to tell me what their favorite season is and why. I love his little picture too. We've been talking about including details and he did a great job. (For those who do not read Kinder it says, "My favorite season is Fall because we get to wear costumes.") He's an adorable little superhero. FYI- the numbers were the date. We are still working on making our slashes longer than our number 1's!
The other day at lunch my assistant Cherie and I got quite a giggle. One of our students was telling us all about the BB gun that he got for Christmas. We were listening very intently when another little boy sitting on the other side of us leaned forward and asked, "Is he talking about BB guns?" to which we answered, "Yes". He gave a sly smile and retorted, "Be careful, you'll shoot your eye out!" I think I almost snorted out my drink. Hilarious...kids got jokes.
I also just recently starting using essential oils. I've been reading and hearing about the benefits for a while, but my good friend Mandy convinced me to order some. I've been reading all about the benefits of using it in the classroom. Some of the oil combos really help to kill airborne germs and help keep overall help. Sign me up!! Thankfully it's all natural and smells great. I can't wait to try them out!
3. Well just call me Joanna Gaines...
Ha ha, I kid! I'm nowhere near the talent of Joanna (one half of HGTV- Fixer Upper) but I can sure use her for design inspiration! We have added a coffee station in our church foyer and we finally got around to putting up the shelves and decorating them. With BIG thanks to our buddy Pete, who really was the brains and brawn behind putting up the shelves. I think it turned out pretty cute. I included the inspiration picture as well. We plan to add some chalk elements to ours too, but the touch up paint was still drying in some spots. We used basic lumber from Lowe's and just stained it a pretty color that we liked. Total cost was around $30. You can't top that!

4. Master bedroom dreams
I have big plans for our master bedroom. We have a huge master suite and no dresser ever seems to fill up the space right without looking dwarfed in the room. My dream is to put some built in's on the wall to help take up space and add storage. This is totally a dream, I'm a realist. I'm 90% positive that it will never actually happen. Oh well. Here's my pinterest inspiration. I also need to invest in a nice chaise lounge or overstuffed armchair to put in a corner of the room too. Possibly even a large rug to ground the space as well.
5. Spring fashion...Stitch Fix time!
I have my next box scheduled to arrive the first week of March, so I've been pinning spring clothes in hopes that my stylist will send me something similar! So excited! If budget was never an issue, I'd start shopping at Anthropologie and Boden. I drool looking at all the pretty clothes.
I also found the cutest tassel necklaces at Walmart! How cute are these! I keep seeing tassel necklaces online and they are always expensive, but these were only $5! They had a big selection of colors and textures too. I may be going back for more.
I hope you all have a great week ahead!
